What Will You Do?
As the Manager of Pastoral Services at Pine Rest, you’llbe part of tight-knit team that believes in the healing power of your expertiseand compassion. The Manager of Pastoral Services will assist the Director of Pastoral Services & CPE in overseeing the day-to-day functioning of pastoral services to patients and residents of all ages and staff members. The Manager will assist the Director in leading and developing excellent spiritual care for patients and staff members and other spiritual aspects of Pine Rest’s mission. The Manager will support the Chaplains, Chaplain Residents, and CPE Interns in providing excellent pastoral care for patients, residents, and staff members. The Manager will work as a key member of multidisciplinary and administrative teams as part of the overall holistic care provided by Hospital and Residential Services. The Manager will coordinate the Pastoral Services and CPE department schedule and ensure provision of pastoral services appropriate for the institution’s needs. The Manager will seek to develop close links with members of the Pine Rest community and staff members and be able to relate to a wide range of ages, faiths, backgrounds, and ethnicities. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Toprovide leadership and support to the chaplaincy team and other staff /volunteers in the provision of excellent spiritual care for patients andfamilies.
  • Tocoordinate and schedule adequate chaplain coverage for Hospital and ResidentialServices.
  • Toadvise, train and support staff throughout the organization and beyond, inidentifying the spiritual needs of patients, residents, and their families.
  • Tosupport staff throughout the organization in meeting spiritual needs ofpatients, residents, their families.
  • Tolead or participate in services for patients, families, staff and volunteers asrequired.
  • Toparticipate in meetings of the various multi-disciplinary and administrative teamsto ensure spiritual needs are identified and addressed.
  • Toparticipate in interviewing, hiring, orienting, and teaching.
  • Tolead in the development of Chaplaincy Team projects that provide spiritual carefor the overall organization.
  • Tocoordinate research projects undertaken by the Pastoral Services department.
  • Tocoordinate and participate in the out of hours on-call arrangements for theChaplaincy Team.
  • Tobuild and maintain good relationships with clergy, ministers and other faithleaders within Pine Rest and in the local community.
  • Supportstaff of all faiths or none.
  • Toprovide line management support for members of the Chaplaincy Team.
  • Maintain confidentiality with regards toresidents, patients, employees, and others.

What Does This Role Require?
Education/Experience:
•Knowledge of theology, spiritual development, and pastoral counseling at a level normally acquired through completion of a Master’s of Divinity degree or equivalent training at an accredited theolog¬ical seminary or school.
•Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education training.
•Endorsement as a Chaplain by one’s denomination of faith group.
•Minimum of five years of experience in related work experience, Chaplaincy preferred.
•Must be board certified by the Association of Professional Chaplains, National Association of Catholic Chaplains, Association of Jewish Chaplains, Association of Mental Health Clergy, or a cognate group of these organizations.
•May be an ACPE Certified Educator or Fellow in the American Association of Pastoral Counseling.
•Previous management experience preferred.
